Hispanic Church Planting
Resolved,
that the 205th Annual Council of the Diocese of Virginia
reaffirm Resolution R-9 of the
204th Annual Council, which requested “the Commission on Church Planting of the Diocese to make planting of Hispanic
cultured churches in Northern Virginia a high priority with efforts
beginning in 1999;” and be it further
Resolved,
that the 205th Annual Council of the Diocese of Virginia
commend Bishop David Colin Jones for his appointment of the Task Force for
Planting a New Hispanic Church; and be it further
Resolved,
that the 205th Annual Council of the Diocese of Virginia
affirm the ongoing effort of this Task Force to develop a vision for a new
free-standing Hispanic Church to be located in an area of concentrated
Hispanic population in Northern Virginia; and be it further
Resolved,
that the 205th Annual Council of the Diocese of Virginia
affirm Bishop Jones’ directive that this Task Force present a vision and
proposed budget to the Commission on Church Planting and the Executive
Board during the year 2000.
